Sustainability Program

1. Introduction

​

This Corporate Sustainability Program demonstrates İstanbul Ekspres Nakliyat ve Ticaret A.Åž.’s commitment to sustainable practices across all areas of its international household goods moving operations. The program aims to minimize the environmental impact of our services, enhance social outcomes, and strengthen our governance practices.

2. Purpose and Objectives

​

The purpose of this program is to place sustainability at the core of our business model. The objectives include:

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions

  • Ensuring efficient use of materials and resources

  • Promoting a zero-waste approach

  • Implementing effective waste management

  • Encouraging ethical working practices

  • Increasing resource efficiency

  • Supporting community development

  • Ensuring transparent governance and compliance with regulations

3. Scope

This program covers all global operations of İstanbul Ekspres Nakliyat ve Ticaret A.Ş., including transport logistics, warehouse operations, packing services, administrative offices, and partner/supplier relationships.​

4. Pillars of Sustainability

4.1 Environmental Responsibility

​

  • Implementing fleet efficiency measures (e.g., electric/hybrid vehicles, route optimization)

  • Reducing packaging waste and using recyclable materials

  • Increasing energy efficiency in warehouses and offices

  • Monitoring and reporting emissions according to international standards

  • Using recycled, recyclable, and unbleached packing materials and boxes

  • Designing buildings for energy efficiency

  • Using eco-friendly fuel additives to reduce exhaust particulates

  • Utilizing low-energy lighting and minimizing unnecessary electronic use

  • Reducing unnecessary water consumption

  • Consolidating shipments to minimize the number of trips

  • Encouraging employees to carpool or use public transport

  • Minimizing waste production; maximizing reuse and recycling wherever possible

  • Reducing paper and printing use by maximizing IT solutions

  • Using water-based paints and varnishes, and solvent-free adhesives

  • Preferring environmentally responsible suppliers

  • Making periodic donations to the TEMA Foundation (Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion, Reforestation, and the Protection of Natural Habitats)

4.2 Social Responsibility

  • Adopting fair labor practices and ensuring safe working conditions

  • Guaranteeing diversity, equity, and inclusion in recruitment and promotions

  • Engaging with local communities through donations, volunteering programs, and partnerships

  • Providing employees with training in health, safety, and sustainability practices

Occupational Health and Safety Policy

​

  • Where possible, we commit to:

  • Providing adequate resources to maintain OHS standards

  • Conducting risk assessments and reviewing them when necessary

  • Ensuring safe systems of work that do not pose health risks

  • Establishing safe handling, storage, and transportation practices for materials and substances

  • Supplying employees with the necessary information, instructions, training, and supervision to protect their own health and safety as well as that of others

  • Conducting health surveillance activities where required

  • Keeping all machinery, equipment, and tools in safe working condition

  • Providing adequate welfare facilities at the workplace

  • Ensuring safe access and exits within the workplace

  • Monitoring safety performance to maintain accepted standards

       We also guarantee:

  • Non-discrimination: No discrimination on the basis of race, caste, origin, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, union or political affiliation, or age; sexual harassment is prohibited.

  • No bullying or harassment: No verbal, electronic, or physical abuse of any kind.

  • Discipline: No physical punishment, mental/physical coercion, or verbal abuse.

  • Working hours: Compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Wages: Wages for a standard work week meet legal and industry standards, covering employees’ and their families’ basic needs; no deductions are applied as disciplinary measures.

​Employee responsibilities include:​

  • Taking reasonable care for their own health and safety, and that of others affected by their actions/inactions

  • Cooperating with colleagues to ensure legal obligations are met

  • Not interfering with, misusing, or intentionally damaging any equipment provided for health and safety purposes

  • Establishing a Sustainability Committee to monitor performance and compliance

  • Conducting annual sustainability risk assessments

  • Ensuring full compliance with international regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 14001)

  • Maintaining transparent reporting practices with regular stakeholder updates

5. Implementation Strategy

  • Setting annual sustainability targets

  • Assigning responsibility for program execution to department managers

  • Establishing KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to measure progress

  • Ensuring continuous employee training and internal communication

6. Monitoring and Reporting

  • Using internal audits and third-party assessments to track progress

  • Publishing an annual sustainability report with metrics, milestones, and case studies

  • Collecting stakeholder feedback to enhance program effectiveness
